It was okay, but everything felt rushed (and somehow slow at the same time?).
It starts out really slow and then it suddenly picks up the pace, and that’s when the dreaded insta-love comes in. The characters were okay, but their backstories were revealed in flashbacks and it all felt kind of forced (very info-dump-y).
And then, of course: the storyline. After reading the blurb and the first few pages (I wasn’t expecting much) I got kind of excited, it felt like it was actually gonna turn out being a good story, but when I got to the explanation part at the end (a lot more info-dump-y than the characters’ backgrounds) my initial expectations were met.
I know there’s a sequel, and the way the author tried to connect this story (which felt kind of resolved) to next book was kinda.. lame. I’m disappointed, and I don’t think I’m reading the next one.
Kudos for the cover tho, really nice and fitting (and one of the reasons why I decided to start reading the book in the first place).
